Like a Rocket

Like a Rocket

We have not yet actually seen the clubs. Nor do we know much about them. But the name certainly is overtly curious, if not a little polarizing. Although coming from those seemingly uninhibited brash marketing folks over at TMAG it really should not be all that surprising.  Don’t we all wish we had a set of rocket balls?  We meant to say RocketBallz. They will interesting clubs to test.  Let us know what you think of the name in the comments... [Read More...]

R11 Irons

R11 Irons

Ok, well they’re not white, but they are new.  Better known for their drivers and metalwoods, TaylorMade’s irons fall into that (can we use another colour reference?) gray area between performance iron and forgiving iron.  Whether they can be both is TBD – or at least up for debate.  Release from TMAG Below: Looks, Technology and Performance (TMAG) – In January, TaylorMade Golf Company turned the golf world upside down with... [Read More...]

R11 Foul Pole

R11 Foul Pole

TaylorMade has erected an 80 foot high replica of the R11 in San Diego’s PETCO Park – essentially working as the right field foul pole. Neat idea - (timelapse video below) – not sure how noticeable it will be once the 28k or so fans file in to buy peanuts and watch the Padres.  Let’s wait and see if it ‘comes into play’ during a game. Miracle on 54th Street

Miracle on 54th Street

Golf needs more driving ranges.  Simple as that.  If you want to grow the game, the masses need a non-intimidating place to start.  A place where one can tee it up in flip flops and, by appropriate lack of design, never miss a fairway.  And on that note, here is a very cool timelapse video of just that, albeit temporary.  As part of TaylorMade’s whiteout campaign, they staged an exhibition on 54th Street in New York.  Sergio Garcia and... [Read More...]

Driver War Heats Up

Driver War Heats Up

It seems the battle for Driver supremecy is officially on for 2011.  Callaway has taken the first shot at TaylorMade’s ‘white’ technology with the campaign below.  It’s a clever bit of creative and aptly timed.  The R11 became available today and has certainly been the talk of tee, so to speak, for some time now.  And ‘independent’ tests are nothing new, one might recall Nike taking a bit of swipe at TaylorMade ... [Read More...]

TaylorMade Introduces R11 and R11 TP Drivers

TaylorMade Introduces R11 and R11 TP Drivers

Not too many things in this world, if any, are black & white anymore – so why should the driver war be any different? From a technology perspective the R11 certainly appears to have a lot going on under the hood – basically, the ability to customize just about every angle and trajectory imaginable (straight-is-still-an-option).  But our guess is that it will be the fresh coat of exterior paint which will, most likely, garner the... [Read More...]

Three New Forged Irons from TaylorMade

Three New Forged Irons from TaylorMade

Known more for their drivers, TaylorMade is bringing to market three new forged options on the iron side of things – you know, for all of those too often discounted shots between the tee box and the green. Now we haven’t actually had the opportunity to see these new irons yet, but the tech appears to be focused around moving the mass generally used to balance swingweight from its traditional place in the hosel to a more precise position... [Read More...]

TMAG Opens State of the Art Performance Lab at Glen Abbey

It’s been in the works for a while now, but it looks like the Academy at Glen Abbey in Oakville will have its new state of the art performance lab / fitting facility up and running for the eve of Hallow’s Eve – that’s the day before Hallowe’en.  Probably a great place to start for all of those who spend most rounds merely masquerading as a golfer.  Nice trick, and even better treat for those tech crazed TMAG minions... [Read More...]
