Nike’s Lunar Footwear continues the Ascent
A previous version the Lunar was reviewed in our spring 2011 print edition - page 24 for the keeners at the front of the class. That version passed with flying colours, so one would assume all of those positive attributes (stability, durability, and comfort) would be / should be evident here. Add lighter. Add breathable. Ascend when ready. Press Release Below: - Nike Golf combines innovative technologies to create the ultimate lightweight... [Read More...]
S is for Speed
and Swoosh The tech may be all about the materials – thinner, lighter, faster – but we think what golfers will find equally impressive is the fact that each individual iron has been designed optimized based upon an impact study. Unless of course you fall into the the atypical category, in which case hitting it farther will have to suffice. Either way, finding clubs to make this game a little easier continue to be the ‘push’... [Read More...]
Similar Method New Concept
And now for something completely, well maybe a little, or somewhat the same – yet different. Nike Golf’s next iteration of the Method putter line is a lesson in duality or at least somewhat along those / new lines. Comprised of multi-materials and not really a mallet and not really a blade – we’ll temporarily place it within that just-going-to-have-to-see-it-and-try-it category. Official press release and pretty enticing photo... [Read More...]
Function and Fashion

VR Pro for the Fairway
For those who have the game – play the clubs the Pros play – Nike’s new VR Pro Limited Edition fairway woods are now available for us mere mortals. No mention of the what exactly the ‘limited’ means, but perhaps that’s old marketing for hurry. New Dual Sole Wedge from Nike
A trend within the wedge category seems to be the ‘dual purpose grind’. Basically a partial flattening of the sole of the wedge whereas not to reduce bounce on the square (regular) shot, yet also allow for an improved leading edge when opening the face for that finesse shot. Sort of akin to carrying one wedge with multiple degrees. Smart tech. Everyone should be looking at this as a means to a multipurpose wedge. Details on Nike’s... [Read More...]

Vapor X Golf Bag from Nike
And in this corner, weighing in at less than 4 pounds … and wearing the Black and University Red trunks we give you the Vapor X. We’re not exactly sure just what ‘university’ red is – could it be Stanford Red? Harvard Crimson? or maybe that Gryphon from Guelph? Doesn’t really matter. What does come matter is that lighter equals easier to carry, less stress on the back and shoulders, and hopefully a more... [Read More...]
Proto-Tiger
This weekend at Firestone marks yet another comeback from Tiger Woods. And in an age when any Tiger story remains the biggest golf story, the world will once again zoom in, watch, and wonder while he tests out his new swing, caddie, knee, achilles, and maybe even the commissioner’s patience. Golf needs Tiger like roads need rubber. To the point of this post, he’ll also be testing out a new pair of shoes. Or is it an old pair of shoes? ... [Read More...]
Look Beyond the Black Horse
This might just be a day to remember if you’re a golf ball enthusiast. A decade ago, Nike changed the way golf balls were manufactured – from a wound core to a solid core – and it appears that they are ready to tilt the tables once again with the release of the 20XI. Rubbin’ is racing and rubber is resin. You can catch up on the technology here. I played the ball during a round in Portland earlier this year. Actually... [Read More...]
