A Quick Recap Followed by …
In 2009, GolfScene, along with the help of Ontario PGA Professionals, brought you a myriad of tips, suggestions, drills, etc in an effort to make each and every one of us a better player and, in doing so, make the game that much more enjoyable. After all, not too many things can match that moment of making solid contact, of hitting it pure, and watching the ball, well, do exactly what we envisioned it should. It’s the time that we hold the finish just a few seconds longer, the time when the bag gets a few pounds lighter, and the walk becomes that much more gratifying.
So we’d like to say thanks to all of the Ontario PGA Pros who took the time to help us master the unmasterable. For giving us a little more luck in this game of some parts chance. And remind you that all of these tips are as relevant today as they were a year ago.
Because winter is indeed the right time to work on our game and to keep sharp in the cold and dark. And if its not 7 ways to play like the pros, you may just need 3 keys to get you ready for spring. Getting back to the basics, let’s not forget the 3 A’s of Practise, that dreaded bunker shot, or the importance of swinging in balance. On the greens, good putting fundamentals are a must while, when discussing the full swing impact position remains the key and contrary to the myth, it is not all in the wrists. And should you have missed 2009 Ontario Teaching Professional of the Year, Sean Casey’s answers to reader questions in last months eNews … the wisdom can be found here.

While doing the above survey it reminded me of what I thought was a great way of presenting instruction. About 3 years ago Jim Nelson while working for one of the major networks would do an interview with one of the pros on the driving range. Jim would ask the question, “What are you working on today?” I found their answers more informative than any magazine or golf website. I was really disappointed when the network discontinued the interviews. I don’t know if it was because the pros where given away personal secrets?
Thanks Mike, maybe that idea is something we could investigate
