Stats Can Be Intentional Misleading

Half EmptyIt is always interesting to to hear the PR spins after each and every tournament. It does not take a statistician / marketer to make the numbers say whatever it is they need them to say. Do you believe the hype? Our advice is starting to border on – Don’t Believe the Truth.

Here’s an interesting email that stems from a publication known as the Tour Van (basically a pay as you go PR vehicle that is now, to add to the conflict of interest, owned by U.S. publisher).  Below is their info verbatim.  Accurate?  We just thought it was curious based on the fact their title was Winning Counts yet the Winner’s equipment did not show up anywhere – no wait – he did use an Odyssey putter.

And as far as the ‘sell’ that there are all of these tricked out tour vans on-site that tend to a player’s every need – there was only one at the Canadian Open, TaylorMade, that we saw.
