It’s been a Great Summer Ride

From standing greenside while Retief Goosen and Nathan Green battled it out during the final few holes and the playoff at the ‘rainy’ yet exciting Canadian Open, to volunteering with my wife Linda during The Canadian Junior Championship at one of my all-time favourite golf courses, Westmount, to nervously caddying for son, Steve, in a Canadian Tour event in Seaforth (read my memoir here), to then planning out and putting together our final print issue for 2009 (in the golf courses next week), an issue which summarizes many of this season’s highlights — August certainly has been a bit of a whirlwind, to say the least.

Now it’s time to reflect.  Spend a bit of time catching up on all of the things I don’t get done during the busy golf season, begin to work on our new online DESTINATION GOLF magazine (coming soon),  and maybe get in a round or two myself.  One is at Clublink’s Greystone Golf Club next week, a course I got a glimpse of during the Canadian Tour event held there recently, and one that immediately found my wish list.

Plans are also underway for a big, new and exciting contest.  It appears we’re going to make you work for this one, but it will be well worth it! The details are still in the vault and even I don’t have the combination for this one yet.
Thanks again to Callaway Golf who recently made Brantford’s Wayne Schuman a big winner (grand prize: a Diablo Driver, two fairway Woods, one Hybrid, a Big Bertha eight piece iron set, a Diablo Stand Bag, a Diablo Tour Cap, and Diablo Golf Balls. Not bad just for being an eNews subscriber and taking a few seconds to enter the contest.  Cindy Duffin of Richmond Hill was the Second prize winner while Sean Regimbal of Oshawa won third.

As we do each month, NEW subscribers also are entered into a draw and during August Scott Van Gulik of Richmond, Ontario and Colleen Cole of Brampton were drawn from the file and each has received a copy of Sean Casey’s new instructional pocketbook, Casey’s Golf Tips.

Now, check the directory, book a tee time at your favourite golf course (also try somewhere new) and take advantage of this great weather.
