Success of prototype leads to a better METHOD

The Scientific Method

The Scientific Method

Inspired by the philosophy of the ‘scientific method’, Nike’s team of designers and engineers combined steel and polymer in multiple ways before discovering the unique polymetal groove technology. The revolutionary and visibly distinctive polymetal groove technology is influential in creating a faster forward roll after impact for the kind of accuracy and consistency that is demanded by Tour professionals. While most traditional steel faced putters start the ball with backspin causing the ball to initially bounce a little higher, the Nike polymetal groove technology starts the ball with forward spin to minimize bounce and keep the putts on line.

Available on February 1, 2010, with limited, special edition quantities available starting in November.

Wendel Clark to host Golf for Kids Pro-Am

The first Callaway Golf For Kids Pro-Am hosted by NHL great Wendel Clark will take place Oct. 7, 2009, at DiamondBack Golf Club in Richmond Hill

“ClubLink is proud not only that this inaugural Callaway Golf For Kids Pro-Am is being held at one of our courses, but that we are the presenting sponsor,” said Tim Green, Executive Director, Sales and Marketing. “At ClubLink, we recognize that youngsters are the future of golf and the Callaway Golf For Kids program, conducted by the Golf Association of Ontario, will be a cornerstone of that future.”

The objective of the Callaway Golf For Kids program is to ensure all Ontario children have a positive golf course experience before they reach high school. It is the major grassroots junior development initiative of the GAO.

“This tournament will go a long way to providing funding for those schools that can’t afford even the nominal cost to participate in the program,” said Mike Kelly, the GAO’s Director of Sport Development. “We appreciate the involvement of ClubLink, Callaway and Wendel Clark in this effort.”

On Oct. 7, teams of three amateurs and a pro will compete in the inaugural Callaway Golf For Kids Pro-Am. Cost is $650 per team and includes golf with cart, dinner and awards. To register, contact Mallory Dayman at 905-852-1101 ext. 237

For more information, contact Mike Kelly at 905-852-1101 or Tim Green at 1-800-661-1818.

Proud to be ...

Proud to be ...

Proud to be Canadian

Many of the Manufacturers and Apparel Companies are ‘Canadianizing their products’ and catering to a the great white north market …

And why not? Every Canadian should be proud to show off our colours on the course and to the world.  Right now you can show a little patriotism while supporting the National Golf Teams by purchasing Team Canada logo’d golf gear (like the bag pictured) via the RCGA’s website at this link.

Now if only they’d logo a toque for us.  Now that would be truly Canadian eh!

And we’ll see if we can’t put together a feature on equipment, apparel, and accessories which carry the red & white motif.  There have been a few of the shoe companies with the Maple Leaf emblazoned on them somewhere and we also saw some Callaway hats being worn at the Golf Town Invitational which were very cool – not sure whether these are available or in special editions.  If you know of a product that comes in a ‘Canadian version‘, please let us know via the comments section or email.

Destination Golf Magazine - Coming Soon

Destination Golf Magazine - Coming Soon

destination ANYONE?

GolfScene’s annual destinationGOLF Magazine will be out soon and, once again, full of great places to visit this ‘off-season’.  There is no better reason than there is no better time to plan that next golf vacation and we’ll have more than a few interesting places to check out. We’ll have stories on Miami and all things FLA.  Sand, sun, gators, and greens.  How ’bout a dance with the Devil?  We did that too, Tremblant style — where there is a mountain of fun for the entire family waiting.  Great travel apparel is hanging in the style section and then there’s a round at some place called Pebble Beach which was, well …
