Pride of Paris
Paris, Ontario’s Jennifer Kirby is quietly etching her name into the future of women’s golf in Canada
When did you take up the game?
When I was about 7 years old my brother played and my mom would bring me along. Eventually when I got a little better I took up the game a little more.
Biggest Influence?
Sean Foley. He’s my swing instructor, well coach. Ever since he changed my swing when I was 13 he has been there
for me helping and supporting me along the way.
(read Sean’s compliments on page 31)
On playing in her first LPGA Tour event?
The biggest thing for me has been just being next to the best players in the world, practising near them and seeing them as people and not just as the stars of the LPGA. And I chipped in today (smile) so that was really fun.
First Tee Jitters?
My nerves were actually pretty good. Probably helped a little as they gave me a little bit of added adrenalin and I hit one pretty good. (Jennifer made par on the hole).
The Future?
Just on to bigger and better events. Play in the U.S. Amateur and hopefully try and win some College events (Jennifer is a freshman at the University of Alabama). And I’d certainly like to win the Canadian Amateur again.
