MYTHCONCEPTION

Spring is here, the golf season is starting and I will start playing well right now.

BUSTED

Playing well begins long before the season begins.

Here are 4 ideas to get you Ready

  • Get the Right Equipment

I have heard a lot of students say “I don’t want to get new equipment until I get better.” Unfortunately your body will have to compensate for the inadequacies of outdated or improperly fitted golf clubs. If you’ve made the commitment to be a better golfer, make the investment of properly fitted equipment.

  • Get the Right Instructor

Finding an instructor that is a good fit can be a challenge.  Every golfer is different and the same holds true for instructors. Philosophies and personalities will differ and depending on your ability, physiology, and goals it is imperative that you find an instructor that fits. If you plan on signing up for lessons this summer be sure to inquire about the background and philosophies of your potential teacher.  Finding the ‘right’ instructor can make all the difference when it comes to your enjoyment of the game.

  • Get Out There!

I can’t believe how many times I have heard “I don’t want to play golf until I am better” or even “everyone is going to make fun of my swing” which I tend to hear most often from my female clients. The best advice I can give any golfer is this – NO ONE IS WATCHING YOU! Golf is very unique in that it is a solo sport albeit played in groups . Everyone is so caught up in their own game that watching your golf swing is the least of their concerns. If you’re new to the game, your only concern should be to keep pace. If you are having a bad hole, pick up your ball and move on to the next. The more you play, the more comfortable you will be on the course.  Get out there and have some fun!
