Grip it and Rip it !

BUSTED

The golf paradox continues …
Why extra effort doesn’t help you hit it further in golf. For those who made it out to the Canadian Open this year to watch the professionals play and practice, one of the things that you must have noticed was how little effort the pros appear to use relative to the distance they hit it.

In physics there is a term called resonance which aptly describes the natural flow or vibration of things. It is clear that from watching these players that they have tapped into this idea. But what is it that they understand about swinging a golf club that most of us continue to struggle with? How can their club head speed be so effortless? Those tapped into resonance understand that distance comes from creating speed.

While the rest of us unconsciously subscribe to the idea that  distance is created through extra effort. This difference in thinking is a crossroad for our mind and has an impact on our mechanics. When you swing with extra effort you create TENSION in your movement and tension is the black plaque of good mechanics. It counteracts our bodies natural elasticity and reduces the transfer of speed through the different sections of the body.

SOLUTION:

Set-up Soft
The first step towards swinging free is a set-up with soft relaxed muscles. A good set-up should make you feel this way.

Practice setting up to the ball with all the muscles in your body as limber as possible if you’re current setup doesn’t allow for that close your eyes and allow your body to stack all its joints this will help to soften your muscles.  Feeling this way is the first step towards swinging free of unnecessary tension.

Good Luck – Swing Free !
