Some Tickets Worth Looking Into …

2008 marks the second year of the Jane Rogers Championship of Mississauga (JRCM), the only full field Canadian Tour event in the GTA. Byron Smith is the defending champion.

The JRCM will be held August 18th to August 24th at Lakeview Golf Course in Mississauga, Ontario and is a full-field event with a prize purse of $125,000. Landmark Sport Group will be donating all event management services in honour of Jane. To further extend the event’s community contribution; children, students and seniors will be able to attend all days for free; an unprecedented approach for an event of this magnitude.

Having recently received the honour of having two of it’s holes voted as top favourites by GTA residents, Lakeview Golf Course is the site of the JRCM. This historic course has twice hosted Canada’s national golf championship, the Canadian Open (won by C.W Hackney in 1923 and Tommy Armour in 1934) and was also the course for the very first Ontario Open and Ontario Amateur championships, both in 1923.

The JRCM is named and presented in honour of Jane Rogers, a courageous, loving, classy and generous woman who, while battling cancer herself, raised funds for her cancer clinic Mississauga’s Trillium Health Centre and inspired family, friends and strangers alike.

Throughout her entire life, Jane gave without question and supported many charitable initiatives. She was a lover of golf and of the Canadian Tour, and this event is a tribute to her and her spirit of giving.
