Meet Eugene Smith from The Canadian Tour and The Big Break
Eugene stopped by Seaforth, Ontario yesterday to help promote the upcoming Seaforth Country Classic, a Canadian Tour stop that takes place August 25-31 and to also talk about his Big Break experience.
Smith was the 2000 NCAA Big East Champion and is a Canadian Tour veteran who once shot a 59 at his home course in New Jersey, the Glen Ridge Golf Club, in a round that included a hole in one.

His best Canadian Tour finish with a second place tie was at the Greater Vancouver Classic in 2007.
When asked about the Big Break experience Smith says, “I was more nervous waiting for my turn to play in the Big Break events than I am on the first tee at any Canadian Tour event. You have to make great individual shots under extreme pressure, and all in front of a camera.”
He adds, “the experience was awesome and it’s really funny to now sit back and watch myself on TV every Monday night.”
The staff at Seaforth Golf Club set up a series of glass targets (just like The Big Break) and invited all of the attendees to ‘try their luck’. And, yes there was lots of broken glass.
Smith will be playing the Canadian Tour stops across Canada throughout the summer and is looking forward to coming back to Seaforth at the end of August.
