New Eastern Ontario Event for the Canadian Tour

Seems sort of like our region’s loss (Jane Rogers Championship and the Seaforth Country Classic?) is another region’s (Eastern Ontario’s) gain.  Good news nevertheless for the card carrying members of the Canadian Tour – new stop, new purse, and another chance to cover travel costs … on the way to the next level. Full Release Below: The Great Waterway Classic set for September 2012 (Canadian Tour) – The Canadian Tour... [Read More...]

A Classic from Cleveland

Here’s one for the ages – or at least those retro fanatics. Cleveland golf is bringing back the look of persimmon with the performance of titanium. Sort of the best of both worlds when it comes to those longing for yester-year, yet craving the distance and forgiveness of today’s clubs.  It’s been a pretty successful trend in the auto industry and it will be interesting to see how golfers respond – certainly got us, say... [Read More...]

Kikkor gets their Gal

Canadian footwear company Kikkor recently announced that the LPGA’s Ryann O’Toole will be wearing their shoes in 2012. Certainly seems to skip in step with the old adage … if the shoe fits – seeing as Ryann very much displays the same sort of fun-loving, energetic nature and ‘personality’ that the youthful brand is known, and dare we say, copied for.  Should be a good tandem on the ladies circuit this season. ... [Read More...]

Moore Good News for Arnie

We’ve known about this for a little while now, but today it is official – the new face of Arnie Wear will be Ryan Moore. Can’t think of a better ‘fit’ for the new apparel line and iconic brand. Arnie Wear, as you hopefully already know, is a partnership between Arnold Palmer Enterprises and none other than those two ingenious misfits (and we mean that in a good way) over at Quagmire Golf. Big time stuff for a couple of... [Read More...]

S is for Speed

and Swoosh The tech may be all about the materials – thinner, lighter, faster – but we think what golfers will find equally impressive is the fact that each individual iron has been designed optimized based upon an impact study.  Unless of course you fall into the the atypical category, in which case hitting it farther will have to suffice.  Either way, finding clubs to make this game a little easier continue to be the ‘push’... [Read More...]

New LPGA Event Looking for Volunteers

For golfers in the Waterloo area with some extra free time this summer … and, should you volunteer, please be and sure and send us a note outlining your experience – we may just choose to publish a few.  Press Release Below: - More than 1,200 volunteers required to make the tournament a world-class success - (MANULIFE FINANCIAL CLASSIC) – Volunteer applications are now available for the 2012 Manulife Financial LPGA Classic, to be held... [Read More...]

Getting Amp’d up about Cobra

Some really cool stuff continues to be making it’s way into the market with the Cobra stamp on it. Whoever says golf doesn’t need a little more style, flair, and youthful exuberance – well- hasn’t been playing much golf lately. We expect 2012 to be a year with a much bigger focus on breaking down traditions and adding a little more fun to the game. We also see Cobra as one of those brands that is embracing this movement.... [Read More...]

Powerband 4.0

When adidas first launched the POWERBAND it was one the first golf shoes to really draw attention to the performance aspect of the golf shoe category – they weren’t your father’s wing tips. Now into it’s fourth version, the POWERBAND remains a staple within the performance shoe category. The question may be whether or not the category itself remains strong with a barrage of more casual ‘street’ style shoes entering... [Read More...]

Similar Method New Concept

And now for something completely, well maybe a little, or somewhat the same – yet different. Nike Golf’s next iteration of the Method putter line is a lesson in duality or at least somewhat along those / new lines. Comprised of multi-materials and not really a mallet and not really a blade – we’ll temporarily place it within that just-going-to-have-to-see-it-and-try-it category. Official press release and pretty enticing photo... [Read More...]

Like a Rocket

We have not yet actually seen the clubs. Nor do we know much about them. But the name certainly is overtly curious, if not a little polarizing. Although coming from those seemingly uninhibited brash marketing folks over at TMAG it really should not be all that surprising.  Don’t we all wish we had a set of rocket balls?  We meant to say RocketBallz. They will interesting clubs to test.  Let us know what you think of the name in the comments... [Read More...]

Making a List

Thought we’d propose a reminder that golf balls under trees, while not a good thing for 364 days of the year, are a very welcome thing come Christmas morning.  As are many other golf related items … which we’ve highlighted in gallery style list. Distance and accuracy off the the tee are... [Read More...]
