Nice: Mizuno’s MPT-10 Wedge Series
Took a few minutes to wander ’round our local big box retail golf shop and happened across Mizuno’s new MPT 10 Series of wedges – the phrase that immediately came to mind was – nice. Great look, some serious design lines and a performance ready grind. Aesthetics are, to some degree (relevant pun included), subjective but these are clubs that really need to be seen up close and personal as images, unfortunately, do not do... [ Read Full Article ]
Putt, Putt, Puzzler
A pro golfer has the amazing ability to consistently putt distances of 3, 5, 7, and 11 feet. Strangely enough, though, those are the only distances he can putt. Currently, our golfer stands on the green with his ball 20 feet from the hole. What’s the fewest number of strokes he can use to get the ball into the hole? Assume that if the ball is hit farther than the distance remaining to the hole, it will roll over to the other side without going... [ Read Full Article ]

Muira Releases 501 Forged Cavity Backed Irons
In the spring of 2009, we posted an article in the magazine about a not-so-well-known, at least at the time, clubmaker who has been quietly crafting some of the nicest irons you may, or may not, have ever laid eyes on. This is not really a new story, seeing as they have been doing so for 40 plus years, yet Muira Golf may very well be a golf company worth looking into. Unfortunately, they are not easy to find – which seems a little strange,... [ Read Full Article ]
How dare you Jim Furyk
One of the oddities I find working within the golf publishing business is the sheer amount of press releases that somehow, someway find there way into the inbox. Now I could probably write 10,000 words on this subject if we wanted to get into the quality, direction, and content of most but this post is not really about that and I, probably like you, am all for brevity when it comes to getting my web info. Anyway, to the point – I thought... [ Read Full Article ]
Notebook: Bob Vokey
When it comes to to wedges there are few names, if any, that are as synonymous with the product line as Mr. Bob Vokey. Roger Cleveland comes to mind even though he is now casting and grinding over at Callaway. We’ve chatted with Roger previously in the notebook, so it was nice to also get to spend a few minutes with another wedge guru and fellow Canadian (born in Montreal) Bob Vokey. Bob took some time out his busy schedule to chat with... [ Read Full Article ]

Ranting and Raving
Every once in awhile I like to sit down and get a few things off my chest. And we all know the golf industry certainly provides lots to talk about … some good and some not so good. First, my rants … Consumer and Trade Golf Shows Having just spent some time at the Toronto Golf Show, it seems to me that there are almost as many golf liquidators as there are golf course exhibitors. There seems to be more of a flea market atmosphere than a showcasing... [ Read Full Article ]
